Crime Report

Several instances have occurred in the neighborhood in the past few months that warrant an update to all residents.

·       A vacant home on Brookshire Drive listed by Marion Zetley with Virginia Cook realtors was broken into on a Sunday night or early Monday morning several weeks ago.  The property is unoccupied so no one was harmed and there were no valuables stolen.  The entry was through a back sliding glass door which was presumed “kicked in” and the home was rummaged through but no significant vandalism occurred.  The police were unable to obtain any fingerprints for a further investigation.  The police did inform Ms. Zetley that there have been a number of homes listed for sale that have experienced break-ins.

·       Robin Simon reported a break-in of her vehicle parked in front of her home at 7023 Brookshire Drive and the theft of several items from the car.

·       The home owned by Tom and Leann Haddock at 7047 Brookshire Drive was vandalized on Monday night when someone spray painted graffiti on their mailbox and concrete retaining wall along their front driveway.  Tom secured photos of the graffiti before removing it with a power washer and the photos are being delivered to the police department for analysis.  The graffiti was similar in nature to gang markings.

·       Randy and Allis Maydew were awakened from their sleep at approximately 3:00 am on Sunday morning when they heard strange noises coming from the back of their home.  Their alarm was set but without the motion detectors.  Upon investigation by Randy, he found a slightly built man, approximately 5’7” or 5’8” crouched outside their french doors with a tool attempting to dismantle the glass panels presumably to allow access to the home without glass breakage.  Randy knocked loudly on the adjoining glass panel and the intruder fled rapidly.  He did not get a good luck at the race of the man nor any vehicle he might have fled in.

I make these reports merely to bring attention to the fact that we ALL need to keep our eyes open and watch out for one another’s property.  If you see anything out of the ordinary, do not hesitate to call your neighbor and ASK if the unknown car belongs to them, or if they are having work done on their home, etc.  Please, let’s all take a proactive approach to eliminating these issues in our neighborhood.

I have had several people ask me again for information about armed patrol with First Watch Security.  My husband and I are contracted with First Watch and are very happy with the service.  If you are interested, you may contact Bud Angwin of First Watch at 214-630-9300.
